Happy Halloween everyone! So over here at MRML we’re watching a little John Carpenter today, but we thought we’d stay away from the obvious stuff like The Thing and Halloween and see if we can talk you into one of the many other awesome flicks in his catalog. Crystal wants you to take a look back at 1998’s VAMPIRES, while Trevor from Terror in Toronto suggests revisiting 1980’s THE FOG.

BTW, Carpenter did compose the score for Vampires. It’s not as synth-heavy as his scores usually are, but it’s his.

Also, Carpenter’s high concept pitch for the movie was “The Wild Bunch vs. Dracula,” which I think explains why none of the characters were really folks you could get behind.

Overall, I prefer The Fog. It’s a movie that has really grown on me with repeat viewings.
